A few months ago, while listening to my Pastor teach a lesson on how God blesses, he said something that made me sit up a bit more in my chair.

“We don’t dictate how God blesses” – Pastor Tim.

Wait…what?

You mean all those selfish prayers I pray each morning are not what God wants for me. Alright, I am being melodramatic, and I do know that God wants to protect, bless, and heal us because He loves us.

But my takeaway was different, I had spent years and I mean years…go back several years on my blogs and see where I write, no lie, what I “expected” the year to be like for me.

I was challenged by Pastor Tim’s words. I looked into my journal, drew a line through what I wanted for this year, and wrote the following:

“To do only what God has dreamed for me.”

I have no idea what that may be, and we are almost halfway through the year, and I am still unaware. But I do know one thing, He’s asking me to show up, be present in my life, and stop dictating what I need and want Him to do.

God knows my heart and sees my needs and wants, so why am I whining about it?

One thing I know to be true is that there are my plans, and there are God’s plans, and His are always so much better than anything I could ever dream up for myself.

So, yes, I no longer dictate to God how to bless me, for I only want what He has dreamed for me, and the privilege of waiting and watching the miracles unfold is the greatest blessing I can ask for.

I encourage you to do the same.
