A few weeks ago I was struggling with a decision and its circumstances, and in that conversation I was told just be brave.
That lingered in my psyche for a while. Why was I struggling so much with this decision? I realized it wasn’t about me, it was about the unwarranted judgment that was going to be heaped on me. I was uncomfortable with that. Why did I care?
Not sure…but I did.
As I sat with it I realized that I was serving an idea that was dysfunctional and truly toxic. I knew better than to be manipulated into doing something I did not want to do. So I took their advice and acted on bravery!
I needed to stand for something!
When you stand for something you have to move away from what is no longer serving you and that takes courage, bravery and compassion.
You need courage – to do something that scares you!
You need bravery – to be bold and confident.
You need compassion – to care for others.
This allows for you to stand in knowing you are doing what is hard, right and because you care!
You have to prepare yourself for the criticism that comes when someone does not know your motives.
Their ignorance is their lack of knowing.
One thing that has become apparent to me- though my circle has gotten smaller, my reach has grown wider.
This comes with less distractions and greater focus.
Take a good inventory of your life.
Where do you have to be brave?
Where do you have to act courageous and where do you need to show compassion?
We all have blind spots. Allow your heart, mind and soul to guide you to the place you are supposed to be in.
Then let the rest go…
In this year of walking on water…bravery, courage and compassion have come calling!
