Who are you warring for?

Several weeks ago, while I was getting a “wellness” procedure, the technician shared why she decided not to return to her wildly successful and cushy corporate job but instead decided to work in the wellness industry.

She explained that she had given this “corporate job” close to 20 years of her life. She shared how much she had sacrificed to make it up the corporate ladder. When she reached the top of the ladder, she felt the weight of daily “warring” for her bosses, the company, shareholders, investors, etc. Though the benefits and compensation were excellent, she was exhausted at the end of the day only to have to get up and do it all over again the next day.

During the quarantine, stay-at-home order, she was laid off. As you can imagine, she was shocked that after 20 years she was dispensable! A year after she was laid off, they offered her her job, she said NO, THANK YOU!

During the year she was off from work, she realized how much she had dedicated to a career that wasn’t loving her back. She realized that every morning she was waking up and going into work, she was “warring” for a job in which she had given her ALL but in return, wasn’t “warring” for her.

So she pivoted and pursued the wellness industry. She realized that servicing women who needed some type of recovery was better suited for her, and though her job and compensation were not as lucrative, the sense of peace that she was experiencing was worth the exchange.

What are you doing now that you are “warring” for that is not “warring” for you?

How much of your time is given to something or someone that will quickly consider you dispensable. How much are you sacrificing your time, family, health, and wellness?

Place a value on peace, tranquility, laughter, joy, and communion – those are the things you should be warring for!
