The other day, while on a walk, I was on the phone with my best friend, who so brilliantly talks me off the ledge but also walks with me through life’s interesting predicaments, most of which revolve around faith.

I told her that I was confused, which bothered me because, for the most part, very little confuses me other than the subject of Math, but most of life’s lessons I can process, yet this one thought was messing with me, and the confusion was this…

How can so many people of faith be so wrong? And how could what I believe to be true be considered “wrong, blasphemous and unrighteous”? How can so many people of faith who profess to believe in a loving, forgiving God have conditions?

What was being required of me was not being reciprocated, but in my faith, you are supposed to “turn the other cheek,” but they don’t have to? How is it the judgement of so many, which is a sin in itself, not apply to the act of judgement?

Well, I knew this much to be true. The bible says this, and I believe it…

1 Corinthians 13:1-7

13 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.

3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

So as the master theologians, politician pundits, social media content creators, pastors, evangelists, priests, the local church, the global church, your friend, your brother, your neighbor debate which GOD is THE GOD, I chose love, because because “hate is too great a burden to bear.” (Dr. MLK, Jr.)

God is love. Love is an action that requires humility. Each identification of love challenges us to love the unlovely. That is God. That is the representation of a TRUE GOD.

Learn to live with AGAPE, charitable love, unconditional love, and God’s love.

And when you do…there you will find God.

My darling sister, you have tapped into exactly the angst I feel. The confusion of how so many believers are so unkind to humankind. Thank you for the reminder! Love conquers ALL.
