I struggled with whether to give my unwarranted opinion on this election. And by the time I post this, we will have a new President. Some Americans will be singing in the street, while others will be protesting in the streets. Whatever the outcome, I have to accept, and hopefully, so will the rest of America.
BUT…now what?
As I sat back and watched debates and town halls in both languages, listened to pundits and podcasts, read articles, and received an oversaturation of emails and texts asking for my vote, I had to think seriously about what came next.
Why would Americans be so hard-pressed on their political ideology? Both candidates were imperfect.
I concluded that I would never ask a political leader to dictate my moral compass. I know what’s right and what’s wrong. I know how to love my neighbor; I know how to feed the poor. I know how to take care of the widow.
Legislation of kindness, goodness, and love is hypocritical. It’s either in you or not.
You cannot love thy neighbor only when it’s convenient and ethical.
Whatever side of the fence you are on, make sure you are there because you believe that YOU alone can make the change you want to see.
Let’s stop rendering ourselves to the political altar of our parties to determine our moral compass.
The last time I checked, politics was about policy.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control come from the heart.
Now what will you?
