Is your life aspirational or inspirational?
Do you desire to be or inspire to be?
Do you yearn for inspiration to live well or aspire to live well?
Do you create, or do you copy?
These questions came across my mind while scrolling, and if truth be told, I find myself scrolling and questioning everyone’s motive. I often question their purpose for posting? Is it to show off, encourage, sell, promote, etc.? Social media can be a landmine of challenging emotions. As we know, it has wreaked havoc on young minds, and I would dare say adult minds, too. We often ask ourselves, why am I not on that beach? How did they obtain that beautiful life? Why am I not thriving on my own?
With so many “professionals” on Social Media, finding your lane and staying true to it can be exhausting because the reality is that we measure our worth by the amount of “likes” and “clicks” we receive on any given post or video. We place exceptional value and purpose on who we are and what we promote. Our culture has subjected a new and old generation to submit to the manufactured idea that if you are not sharing, then you must be dead!
Our current culture has accepted and awarded the success of “posts,” creating a subculture of “successful, aspirational” folks called “influencers” who have used this platform recklessly. In contrast, others have found their identity and have become inspirational, which is rare, but it’s happened.
In this phenomenon, every aspect of our lives has given into this idea that we must be “relevant” to be “relevant.” – The irony is the relevance is not given by others but by who you believe to be.
So, as you scroll on any platform and prepare to post, ask yourself, do I desire to be aspirational or inspirational. Do I desire to help someone? What is my motive? What do I intend? Understanding the power of the post reveals your intention and motive –
Be inspirational first!
