In March 1993, during a visit to Los Angeles, I first met Robert; I thought, what a nice guy. I recall someone telling me, “Whoever marries that guy is going to be one lucky girl; he’s a great guy.” In my mind, I thought, what makes him a great guy? What’s so special about him?

Several months later, while visiting NYC, he was told, “If you knew she was getting a divorce, would you ask her out?” he said yes!

He CALLED on June 8th, 1993; I quickly learned what makes him a great guy and what is special about him, and we have not stopped talking!!!

Thirty years comes with a lot of life. Thirty years comes with many “I’m sorry, I love you, I apologize, I need time. There have been some ups and downs, sharp curves, and unbelievable loops. We have both grown up and, at times, grown apart. We have done the work and continue to do the work.

We continue to choose each other!

Marriage is magic – full of illusions at first. Yet marriage can be lonely, and marriage can be exhausting. Marriage is one of the most intimate relationships you will have with yourself. It mirrors your strengths and your weaknesses. It exposes your kindness, vulnerabilities, and your indifference. Marriage is the fulfillment of honor, respect, forgiveness, and wholeness.

Thirty years ago, on February 5, 1994, I married the man I wished for, dreamed of, and will forever love!

Cheers to 30 more!
