Somewhere in the middle…

I am living in the middle of my life.

I am no longer numerically young to do “young” things (whatever those are); I am not old enough to retire from life, though I do not EVER see myself becoming that person.

Living in the middle comes with a bit of uncertainty that we do not want to talk about, and I find folks asking themselves….where do we belong?

I believe we have fallen into the middle of wisdom.

We’ve lived a little, learned a lot, and have a lot more to go, so it’s time to share.

The power of falling into the middle of wisdom is liberation, exploration, and admiration.

Yes, at this age, all those apply. We no longer live with the anxiety of others’ approval. We live with a greater sense of adventure and confidence in who we are!

There is incredible freedom in aging well.

The importance of this season of our lives is to have relationships with men and women of all ages. There’s nothing like sitting with someone who’s lived a life filled with experiences that can guide and enlighten your thoughts about decisions, bringing greater clarity to what may look hazy and confusing. We must be available to the young person who cannot see the forest from the trees and hand them a compass.

Society can no longer discard those who live in the middle for we are growing in numbers.

The middle needs to be acknowledged and celebrated!

So, as we all navigate towards the middle, let’s do it with laughter, tenacity, a pep in our step, and thanksgiving. The experience strengthens us, the joy carries us, and the relationships lead us.

Don’t despise the middle! It’s a great place to be!

Celebrate yourself!
