This week, I struggled with what to write. Not because of some world event that has given me pause. More so the purpose and value of my words. I struggled because I want what I write to give someone, one person, something to think about and create a teachable moment if I would be so presumptuous.
So, as I pondered the commitment to blogging once a week, I thought, does it matter?
And I answered YES!!!
Just last week, my latest blog post created quite a stir. Which is always my intention. I want folks to be awoken from their zombie-like beliefs. My reflection caused some folks to email me, challenge me, disagree, and agree. It is always what I look forward to. I am NOT looking for an “Amen” choir; I am seeking a conversation that will create a healthy circle of dialogue.
A safe place, if you will.
I imagine you have that challenge in some area of your life. You may question, is this worth it? Does it matter? Should I continue to commit to something that seems like it going to the winds? I say to you, if it is something you are passionate about and your intentions and motives are pure, then YES, it matters. Stay committed to yourself. Bet on yourself. Do not wait for someone to tell you you are special, marvelous, and worth it. Though that’s always a lovely feeling…be your best cheerleader.
As Emmy award winner Nicey Nash stated in her speech – “I want to thank me, for believing in me and doing what they said I could not do,” she continued. “I want to say to myself in front of all you beautiful people, ‘Go, girl, with your bad self. You did that.”
Sometimes, we have to acknowledge that we are doing the work. We are committed to the process, showing up and doing the best we know how, and that is always GOOD ENOUGH!
