She simply said “What do you want?”

Ask yourself “What does Annette want?”

and just like that the tears flowed.

She asked me not to answer her but to think about it and write it down. She jokingly said, and please don’t write down “World Peace.” I appreciated the levity at the moment, for I was taken aback by her question.

So, as I sit with this question, I ask you the same – “What do YOU want?”

We are so busy working, serving, creating, living, caring for others that we overlook that simple reflection.

Are we doing what WE want or what is EXPECTED of us?

I know that our dreams are deferred and often overlooked in the reality of our lives due to all the responsibilities that lay before us. We place ourselves on the back burner and do what needs to get done at that moment.

As I walk towards a new chapter in my life, I HAVE to sit with this question for a while.

I will pray, meditate, write and ask GOD what do YOU want of me, for HE knows the desires of my heart.

Take a moment to ask yourself this question…do you know what you want?

I guess the tears flowed for me, for I know what those dreams are but they have been deferred.

Give yourself permission to dream in the day to day routine and write them down.
