It’s called CPV

It has a name

Never in a million years did I ever think I would utter these words.

I am a victim of Child/Parent Violence. 

It falls under the definition of domestic violence from a child towards a parent.

That’s what happened to me, to our family. 

I do not share this to be gratuitous or seek to blame anyone…

I simply want to help others as I navigate this new identity that has a name.

I disclose this information so someone can seek help. 

In my desperate need to identify what was happening, I came across information that surprised me. 

It is the most underreported form of domestic violence…

Why?

Because we want to help and save our child and more importantly, we can’t bear the SHAME!

I disclose so I can heal myself – I will NOT be held hostage by SHAME.

I disclose so we can heal as a family – 

We are a unit that will walk towards healing, towards wholeness, and that will take work.

The road is long ahead of us…

There are many stops along the way, as we will need to sit, ponder and forgive.

Forgiveness must come for my heart to be free, for my mind to soar and for light to enter the room.

I am still here.

I am alive

That gives me the power to forgive 

I walk a different narrative 

I walk with a different understanding 

I walk with chards living in my heart 

Chards that will remind me of the moment 

my heart broke into a million pieces

Time will soften the rawness in my memory

Time will bring healing to my sickened soul, which is full of pain

Time will allow me to walk with a lesser burden of fault which is part of the shame…
